Royal Buildings Investigation
In 1932 the Royal Buildings cellars were flooded when the Markeaton brook flooded. It is believed that several prisoners drowned and were killed during the flood in the cellars at the building.
These cellars were also connected to the stables at the rear of the building and still to this day the fireplaces that were used in the stables can be seen.
Workmen who have made repairs in the cellars have reported the feeling of being watched, strange noises and cold blasts of air around them.
